Description

Tough & ready to use, Hessian Sandbags are simple but effective & excellent for use in flooded areas. Properly filled and placed sand bags can act as a barrier to divert moving water around, instead of through buildings. Sandbag construction does not guarantee a water-tight seal, but is satisfactory for use in most situations as it can reduce the amount of water entering. For most buildings to reduce the impact of flooding, sandbags should be placed over floor wastes and drains (e.g. laundry, shower and bath) to prevent backflow of grey water entering. Sandbags should also be used in front of doorways / roller doors and brickwork vents. Most standard homes and buildings on a concrete slab can be protected with less than 25 sandbags.

They are strong enough for temporary walls, raised bank, trench and levee construction. Filled with sand/cement mixture they are also able to be used to make effective sandbag walls. Strong, reusable, long lasting, breathable and environmentally friendly, these bags can be filled with sand giving you a ready made weight or sediment control device. These traditional Sand Bags are biodegradable ensuring less of an impact on the environment if they are left to maintain levees, reinforcement, etc. These sandbags feature a side cut for easy filling and a tie-string for easy closing.

Empty bags can be stockpiled for emergency use, and will be serviceable for several years, if properly stored. Filled bags of earth material will deteriorate quickly.
